A good fit is what makes a brace work. Most supports need two or three measurements taken with a soft tape while your dog stands on all four legs. Keep the tape snug, but not tight.
Measure with a soft tape, dog standing
- Thigh: around the widest part of the upper thigh, close to the body.
- Below the knee: around the leg just under the stifle joint.
- Length: from the middle of the thigh down to the hock.

A brace supports and stabilises; it does not diagnose or heal. If your dog is limping, in pain or recovering from surgery, ask your vet whether this support suits your dog and for how long it should be worn.
